This fire extinguisher technicians full course is ideal for anyone wishing to undertake (and become a ‘competent person’ in) the selection, installation, commissioning and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers.
What is included?
Based on BS5306-3 Commissioning and Maintenance, and BS5306-8 Selection and Installation, this IFEDA course and successful completion of the BAFE recognised examination, will result in technicians who will be qualified to:
- Advise on the suitability and positioning of portable extinguishers
- Carry out the commissioning and on-going maintenance requirements
This course fulfils the training competency requirements for registration on third party certification schemes i.e. BAFE SP101, leading to demonstrable competence under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Please note: the course is a theory intensive course and the examination is a closed book examination, hence the reason the manual is sent out in advance. This is to give the candidate time for background reading.
It is also highly recommended that the candidate should have worked with extinguishers before attending the course as stated in BS5306-3 (annex I) “A competent person is one who has undergone an initial programme of training which includes “on the job” experience and attendance of a training course, followed by the successful completion of an examination.....”
